The award at the « Green Growth Knowledge Platform » Third Annual Conference for the Best Young Researcher Paper went to Prudence Dato, PhD Student at Université Grenoble Alpes, for his paper « Energy transition under irreversibility: a two-sector approach ».


The GGKP received more than 200 submissions in response to its call for research abstracts; the top 25 per cent were selected for discussion at the conference. Of the abstracts selected for discussion, 22 papers were submitted to the contest from which the Best Young Researcher Paper was chosen. Presented by Carlo Carraro (Universitá Ca' Foscari Venezia, Italia) and Eshita Gupta (Teri University, India), Prudence Dato received a certificate, cash award, whilst his papers will be published in a reputed journal.

Prudence Dato is a PhD student in Economics and a Teaching Assistant at Université Grenoble Alpes (France). He holds a Master’s degree (PhD track) in environmental and resource economics at Toulouse School of Economics (TSE) in France. He also graduated from the collaborative NPTCI programme in Economics at the University of Abomey-Calavi (UAC) in Benin.

His main research interest is environmental and resource economics. He specializes in energy transition, optimal switching problem, e-waste trade and theory of incentives. He was involved in some project on municipal solid waste and e-waste funded by IRDC and UNDP in Benin (West Africa). He also got a Teaching Assistant position at the University of Abomey-Calavi (UAC) and at Toulouse School of Economics (TSE). His PhD thesis focuses on the transition to renewable energy and on investments in energy savings technologies with a particular interest in smart-grids, micro-grids and in economic instruments that favour energy transition.
