Recognizing the scientific excellence of our PhD Students

The Université Grenoble Alpes has honored thirteen PhD graduates from the class of 2025 whose dissertation work was deemed to be of exceptional quality. These awards recognize the excellence of the research conducted by these young scientists in their laboratories.

The thesis awards recognize:

  • 7 Academic Thesis Awards recognizing excellence in each disciplinary field, as represented by the site’s doctoral schools and research clusters;
  • 3 Interdisciplinary Academic Thesis Award for a research project that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and spans at least two significantly different doctoral fields;
  • 2 Innovation Thesis Awards that also include a focus on commercialization and technology transfer to society from both a technological and social perspective;
  • 1 Ecological Transformation Thesis Award for a thesis that makes an exemplary contribution to ecological transformation, understood as the set of social, economic, technological, cultural, and environmental changes necessary for a sustainable society that respects planetary boundaries.
As in previous years, candidates are selected based primarily on the scientific excellence of their dissertation, their ability to present their work clearly and concisely, the scientific significance and impact of their work for the discipline, and, where applicable, the quality of their scientific output during the course of their dissertation. Additional criteria are applied depending on the nature of the dissertation award: interdisciplinary research, innovation, and ecological transformation.
