Reasons for tuition fees exemption

For financial difficulties if your application has been accepted by the exemption commission (Application procedure).

You are preparing your thesis within the framework of a cotutelle agreement, signed by all parties, and that this agreement explicitly states that you are exempt from registration fees at Université Grenoble Alpes for the academic year 2026-2027.

Your UGA personal space

As a PhD student, you are both registered as a student at UGA, and staff of your laboratory. You therefore have a Student profile and a Personal profile.

An institutional address (@univ-grenoble-alpes.fr) is also created. Your email address is accessible from the staff intranet (https://intranet.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr).

Student card

Your card remains valid for the duration of your doctoral program.
If you do not re-register, your card will be automatically deactivated after 31 December 2026.
If you have lost your student card you must contact ced-centredinscription@univ-grenoble-alpes.fr
You will be asked to provide proof that your card has been stolen or to pay a €15 reissue fee.

The UGA no longer provides stickers to update student cards; information regarding the year of enrolment will only be available via Adum, Leo (to obtain a certificate of enrolment) and the Campus UGA app (for all services linked to the card).

Year Off (Césure)

If you wish to benefit from a year off, you must apply before June 15 for a year off beginning on September 1, and before October 15 for all other requests.
During the year off, the PhD student remains registered and must pay the reduced tuition fees :
€265 in 2026/2027.
Students on a year off enrolled in initial training at an institution of higher education are subject to payment of the CVEC (see circular n°2019-030 of April 10, 2019)
